BiographyJR is a French street artist and photographer who pastes large-scale black-and-white photographic portraits onto buildings, bridges, and public spaces around the world to provoke questions about identity, borders, and human rights. His projects—including Face 2 Face, Women Are Heroes, and Inside Out—have transformed urban environments across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. He won the TED Prize in 2011 and has collaborated with filmmakers, musicians, and communities globally.
