BiographyRichard Diebenkorn was an American painter celebrated both for his Abstract Expressionist works and for his return to figurative painting as a leader of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. His most iconic series, Ocean Park (begun in 1967), features luminous, geometrically structured abstractions in blues, greens, and pinks inspired by the light and landscape of Southern California.
